With the hottest October weekend on record forecast, i headed up to Wales to Teach our 3rd BJJ Seminar at Aberystwyth University.
After catching up with Friends and Family, we headed to the Uni's Judo/Ju Jitsu Dojo at mid-day on the Saturday.
Post a grueling warm-up, we started with some basic Self-Defence moves:
- Straight Arm-bar vs one handed label/hair grab
- Rear - Takedown vs Standing Headlock
- Arm-bar counter to Headlock on the ground
After a short water break we continued with:
- Elbow shrug Arm-bar escape to Guard Pass
- Triangle Counter to the Guard Pass
- Side Control Escape to Knees
The theme for the Sparring that followed, was of "going light" in order to work the "sensitivity" of the constant transitions that occur when fighting on the ground.
The 20+ Students in attendance included, Police Officers, Door-Men, Black Belt Ju Jitsu/Judoka and of course our West Coast Rooster Brothers & Sisters. All of whom had a open mind to the functionality of the material being taught.
Post re-hydrating, we retired to the beautiful sea front to refuel and "chew the fat"
On the Sunday, i gave a Private Session to my Family, Sparring lots and passing on the material required for Blue Belt progression.
Many Thanks as always to all the Students for their Hospitailty, friendship and work ethic :)
See you all soon
Dave
